The Beautiful Barrow

Great day with a group on the Barrow recently.

This is a very scenic place to paddle and it tends to be runnable when there is no water anywhere else. 

Plus there is a canal running along side it so you can paddle back up the canal and do the whole thing again. Nice One!

We paddled from just outside Borris (put on at a hump back bridge just outside town) and we took off at Graignamanagh just before the bridge in the town centre.

Otters, Herons, Kingfisher and Snowdrops

There was an abundance of wildlife on the Liffey yesterday :-)

I was paddling with a group from Lucan to the Strawberry beds and we managed to see two herons, a pair of otters and a kingfisher as well as the arrival of spring flowers like snow drops. I grew up around this area and I have seen a big decline in the wildlife species around the Liffey and the Rye rivers during the 90s and naughties. But now it seems that nature is making a come back. One of these days when I figure out how to work my camera properly I'll put up pics.

No Water

So there's only 5 things to do when there is no water in the rivers to go kayaking

1. Plan lots of trips to where there is water for the coming year (see our calendar on the front page and our overseas section)

2. Do some yoga

3. Do some work

4. Go out on the bike

5. Go to where there is water....and surf....maybe...it's back to the West of Ireland I go woo hoo again :-)

Our New Calendar

So today's job was to fix dates for all the courses and classes for the next few months. Job Done! We have some really exciting things on it like trips to Kerry, Wales, Slovenia, France, Norway and Mexico. Also you will find dates for beginners courses, skills trainings and assessments and more.

And don't worry I didn't get a chance yet to put everything on the calendar so there's loads more to come and if you would like a course or class on a particular day then you can just for ask for it and we will make it happen :-)
